it's harvest season - happy dayak festival!

It's Dayak Festival here in Sarawak on the 1st June. So there'll be 2 public holidays on the 2nd and 3rd of June, with 3rd June being a replacement holiday, as 1st of June falls on a Sunday. In other words, long weekend in Sarawak here. :-)

Pardon me with the quick work on the Dayak Festival picture, I used bout 15-20 minutes to do it, including searching my own image library to do a photoshop.

mini musical fair @ theSpring

Let us rewind to Saturday, 4th April.



Before set of Pikom PC Fair, I hung aroundd the Spring while waiting for my friend. There I bump into the dynamic duo -- Irene and Jimmy.


Irene, apparently her hair goes back to normal after wash, no more OL look.






Talented young musician showing prospects with organ perfomance.

The organ performance was captured with my EF 90-300mm F/4.5-5.6 USM. Don't quite like the quality. I think it doesn't perform when it's used for indoor shots, or even low-light environment.

If not mistaken, all the shots were shot at max 300mm.

Then a er hu performance followed after the organ performance.




I like how the sunlight touches the subject here.

It wasn't long before my friend called. I was off to Pikom PC Fair after that.

Happy Chinese New Year! 新年快乐!

It's the Mickey Mouse year this year. Year of Rat, according to the lunar calendar. I don't take photos of myself, so I'll let my model to do say the greetings for me. LOL!

The folks here started warming up way before the clock hits 12, you can hear the folks warming up with their arsenal. I risked my safety more than I did last year, by stepping inches more outwards from the house. Still, I couldn't get a nice decent composition. And, also, the fact that I'm staying in a single-storey house doesn't help either. I wished I have bigger compound, or I have second storey balcony for me to shoot with.

Oops, wrong focus. I was nervous. It was a bomb galore out there last night. LOL.

It looked as though the camera forgot the spectacles, cos the visions were all blurred. =P

Luckily I managed to spot that error, and corrected it. So, my subsequent shots looked better, and normal.

There only thing prevented me from stepping further outside was the kid opposite my house. He got addicted in throwing grenade and flash-bang last night, probably played too much Counter Strike. Look at the photo below, some of the crackers or bombs landed nearer than the one you see in the photo. -_-"


Dangerous la wei!!! He didn't even stopped throwing at my direction even though my physical presence was so obvious with my DSLR, and my tripod. -_-" I wonder if he was actually targeting me.

Anyways, once again, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to all, and happy holidays to those who aren't celebrating!

jazzy nite with lorraine

I happened to drop by Mojo the other night. It was unplanned.

I was there to meet Pazuzu, and cos of that I was amazed by a beautiful voice singing jazz. I must say I know little about music, but the performance was sure nice.




The only complain was the place was a bit too small, and too dark for photography. I didn't have speedlite with me, even if I had one, it might not give the original feel.

Photos were shot using EF 50mm lens, without speedlight. ISO was boost up to 800. I was reluctant to use 1600 cos of the noise produced by 350D.

A day after theSpring shopping mall was officiated, something caught my eye when I was walking past the residential area.

This picture was taken with my W810i, while I was making my way through the residential area near theSpring. Apparently someone had had enough, and decided to make it clear with this home-made sign board, and display it just outside the house.

This.... this... violator has victimized a few photographers throughout the event with her mass, and she acted as though she's right to be there. Blardy toot!!! Beh tahan! Irene and JF, and myself were among the victims.
