during last weekend...

I needed a break, so I took a day off from work on Friday.

Weekend started earlier for me last week, and I became a tourist for a day or two in Kuching. It was fun rediscovering my own homeland after so many years. After all, I am almost a stranger to my own homeland after spending most of my past 6-7 years away from Kuching.

Joining together with friends from Singapore, most of them were making their first visit to the capital of Sarawak, we visited to several attraction spots here.

Hera are the previews of what happened on Friday, and Saturday.

On Friday...

A walk in Main Bazaar area.

A blue sky with phenomenon, view from Carpenter Street, Kuching.

A visit to the living musuem - Sarawak Cultural Village.

On Saturday...

A local celebrity's visit, Chef Wan.

Tracking into one of many natural reserves in Borneo - Bako National Park.

At the end of the trip, I was all burnt out. Still it was real fun! :-) Detailed update will be up soon.

new mobile experience

If you happened to be around off-Petanak area, or Travilion area, you may have seen this already.

It seems there will be a new mobile phone outlet opening soon.

In conjunction to their grand opening, there will be a mobile fair going on here from 29 June 2007 - 1 July 2007.

Maybe you would like to drop by to find out about the goodies this mobile fair has to offer. In case you don't know where exactly it is. Here's the more detailed map.

Pardon the lousy map here. :P It's a 2-minute-work. Just right next to IT Fusion, the row behind HSBC building.

It should not be too difficult to locate. ;-)

thank you

For those who remembered, thank you all for the wishes you sent in. I appreciate it. :)

On the other hand, I was soaked in the rain when I went over to the Hotlink Borneo Music Festival, Power Station 动力火车 concert. Concert was delayed from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.

Updates on that will be coming up shortly.

power station 动力火车 concert @ travilion mall, kuching

Those who has been around Travilion Mall area these few days, you cannot miss the huge stage they were putting up there.

Those were the preparation for the BIG thing tonight - Power Station (动力火车) concert.

Power Station is a band of two from Taiwan. They are known for their powerful vocal, and their music genre is mostly rock. They haven't released new album for quite few years now. It is said they had been occupied with church activities.

The last time they were here in Kuching, I was there too. I was still in 'school' that time. Pretty young. I can't remember which year. It was held in Civic center.

I'm glad to know about this event this time round. Excited!

This concert will also feature other artistes like Anthony, as well as some local bands (i assume). I do not have much info on this concert.

Here are some of the shots I took last night, and the organizers are tuning up for the event today.

The main stage.

The control tower.

The lightings.

The stage. Shot this on tripod on long exposure. However, the vibration from the sound wave was too much for my tripod, thus, the blurred image.

The stage rehearsal, and tune up.

Anyway, I will be there tonight to shoot the stage event. If you do see me there, do say hi.

Cheers!

And I just thought this thing (placed under the stage) looks so-cool.

" End Note: This event is brought to you by Hotlink. And, again, this is not a paid post. "

rainforest world music festival

Date: 13-15 July 2007
Venue: Sarawak Cultural Village,
Kuching, Sarawak,
Malaysia
Website: Rainforest World Music Festive 2007

One month.

One month is all it takes before Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) starts. This event has been around for the past 9 years, since 1997. The 2007 edition will mark RWMF’s 10 years anniversary.

Even though RWMF has been around for the past decade, I haven’t been to any of the editions before, as I haven't been around Kuching since year 2000.

I am making sure that I will be going to this one this time round, probably going for both Saturday and Sunday. Anyone going?

Tickets are available at Sarawak Tourism Board, or you can purchase it online. For more information, please visit the official site.

"End Note: This is certainly not a paid post, nor an advertisement. "

miri trip - recap

A while ago, I was on a trip to Miri, for some company assignment.

My flight was scheduled to depart at 7.10am, but only to be delayed due to weather conditioning. It was foggy. Visibility was too low for clearance.

Since wasn't doing anything, I took my phone and started snapping. Actually I snapped some with my DSLR, but those will be shown later. So, be patient.

Psst.. Shiny white shoes!

Coffee Bean wasn't opened yet, so no internet.

This is how the fog was like. I snapped all these when I board the plane at 8:30a.m.

Visibility still low, isn't it?

You don't get this in KL. ;-) (I mean the fog/mist)

selamat ari gawai

30-31 May was Harvest Festival (Tadau Kaamatan) in Sabah.

Today (1 June), we are having Gawai Festival here in Sarawak.

Selamat Ari Gawai;
Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai.

"End Note: I don't know what that means, but it sounds Happy Holiday to me."
